CerAzul : Practical workshop on tile restoration techniques
July 01, 2015, LNEC
The workshop will do practical demonstrations of techniques and materials used in the restoration of azulejos (glazed ceramic tiles) in particular those studied within the CerAzul project. CerAzul is a research project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) (contract PTDC/CTM-CER/119085/2010) on the appraisal and development of materials and techniques for the restoration of azulejos. Its studies have focused on the consolidation of the ceramic matrix, the re-adhesion of fragments and the reintegration of lacunae. Whenever possible the materials and samples used during the project will be displayed in the workshop, and the techniques demonstrated.
Program (to be confirmed):
Participants can paint their own azulejos (at a cost of €3,00 per blank tile) fire it and take it on the last day of the GlazeArch2015 conference.
